The wind was up early with a strong sou-easterly blowing by 7am. It had a fair bit of south in it making conditions less than perfect. But as can happen on days with a strong off-shore, the wind died down a little into the morning and by 11am (although there was still a little chop on the water from the southerly), the surf was looking pretty damn good. Combined with a peak in the swell and a low tide, some of the consistently good swell magnet spots were turning it on. It almost went fully off-shore, but not quite.
