Finally after a week of good swell but westerly winds we woke to a decent easterly and four to six foot swell. Conditions were excellent in the morning even with a dropping swell, until the on-shore by lunchtime. At one point, after being alerted by someone on the beach, surfers cleared the water at the southerly end due to a shark sighting. After some fairly intense discussions on the beach on the species of shark (most likely a Mako), the size (not particularly big - whatever that means), and the danger element (consensus was it was low), surfers re-entered the water after a few minutes.
